The Exact Change
How embarrassing is it to stand in line to pay for your groceries, have the cashier ring up every item only to discover you don’t have the right currency? You’ve waited in a ‘cash only’ line with nothing but a credit card and the cashier, according to company policy, cannot accommodate you. Don’t look for help – those in line behind you are either prepared or are alerted to their own mistake and quickly change lines. You might get a sympathetic glance, but nobody has enough cash for their purchases AND yours. And there is nothing to be gained by ranting and raving at the cashier – he is following company policy and rarely are the employees able to make an exception for you.
Here’s where the ‘parable of the grocery store’ symbolizes the transition from this life to the next. Nobody gets out alive – it’s a scientific fact – and roughly 2/3 of the world’s population believe that there is an ‘afterlife’ of some form. Christians know that we have a free will choice about that. It will either be with our Creator in a restoration of His original creation or apart from Him with everybody else, human, and angelic, who made the decision to ‘go their own way.’ (And there is no Switzerland in this scenario – no neutrality – it’s one or the other. No decision IS a decision for ‘going your own way.’)
Here’s the crux – and the why is for you to take up with God in a completely different discussion - the only method of payment that God accepts is the blood of the Christ. If you don’t have that (a relationship with Jesus as your Lord and Savior) you will be allowed the free will to ‘go your own way.’ And the biblical description of that choice is harsh.
It is biblically called hell. According to the interpretation I believe, it stands empty until Judgment day when it will be filled with all those who in their earthly life chose their own way instead of God’s way – through the blood of Jesus Christ. Its ruler will be the strongest of all - Satan is tough enough to have stood in the presence of God, his Creator, in defiance and be cast out with all the other celestials who followed him. It is fact that God alone can control him, and does, for now, for our sake. That place will be governed by him with no restraint, and he hates God, and he hates us. It will be an awful existence for all time. My heart aches for those who reject the Savior and choose this path.
Do you have what it takes to enter the Kingdom of Heaven? Do you have the correct currency? RIGHT NOW is the time to decide and be sure that you have the ‘exact change’ to join with Jesus in heaven at the right hand of the Father BEFORE you get in line. “Ask and you will receive! Seek and you will find! Knock and the door will be opened!” Matthew 7:7-8
