Do Dogs go to Heaven?

I was asked this question several years ago and posted this on Facebook a while back. Since I’m visiting family in Florida this week and am missing my bulldog buddy, Chubb, I unearthed it for a quick blog before I head out for more family fun. My mutt is the most mischievous of our little pack of three, but I miss him all the same.

Do dogs go to heaven? The Bible doesn’t say specifically, and the question is not one we should consider shedding blood or damaging relationships over. But since animals were part of original creation it’s reasonable to think that when God restores everything new, they will be there too! So be encouraged and read Isaiah 11 and the descriptions of relations between species who ‘shall not hurt nor destroy … for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.’ Trust that God has told us that we will be joyful and happy with whatever is there, “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind” (Isaiah 65:17). It’s our job to set our minds on trusting God in all things, praising Jesus with every breath and being counseled by the Holy Spirit through all trials and heartaches of this life. Hang in there today, weary friend. Jesus is with you! 😊 Have a great day and give God the glory for it!
